King and Queen’s Forest!

We are thrilled to share that our King and Queen's forest is finally coming to life! With the recent planting of oak and beech trees in France, we could not be more excited about it.

Did you know that in traditional European folklore, oak trees are referred to as the "King of the Forest," while beech trees are known as the "Queen of the Forest?". The oak tree was associated with strength, durability, and longevity, making it a fitting symbol for a king. The beech tree, on the other hand, was seen as a symbol of elegance, grace, and femininity, making it a fitting symbol for a queen.

Beyond their symbolic significance, diverse forests like the King and Queen's forests can also have a positive impact on the environment. An interesting fact is that oak saplings are glabrous, without leaves, while beech saplings keep their leaves which protect next year's buds from the winter cold.

Research shows that a diverse forest has the ability to absorb more carbon and create a barrier against the consequences of extreme weather events. Additionally, planting more trees means more food for birds and insects, as well as providing food and shelter for birds and insects. 

Overall, the establishment of the King and Queen's forest is an excellent step towards a more sustainable future.
